Greetings! My name is Nick Tamble and I am running for the House seat in District 42A (Mounds View, Arden Hills and Shoreview). I grew up in Roseville and have lived in Arden Hills for 8 years with my wife Kimberly and our daughter Elizabeth. I operate a small business that serves residents and businesses in the North Metro. I am currently a Council Member for Arden Hills and also serve on the Communications and Website Committees. My political outlook is simple: effective communication and decisive action through positive working relationships. When votes have been cast and the dust settles, everyone's needs should be considered. This November, consider someone who sees the big picture, vote Nick Tamble for House District 42A, thank you!

Many have asked me "Why in the world would you want to be involved in politics?"

Good Question…not always an easy answer.

As a young boy, I remember my mother writing on our message board at home: "There comes a time for all good men to come to the aid of their country". I didn't quite know what this meant, but figured that everyone needed to serve in the military. As I grew older, I realized that not all who serve the public do so militarily. Some serve in non-profits, some teach, and yes - some serve in politics. In my mind, to effectively serve in politics, it takes someone with an energetic attitude yet empathy for fellow human beings. It takes someone who raises good questions and offers solutions amidst difficult decisions. I am not afraid to say what I feel and will not try to protect my seat by riding the fence on controversial issues. I believe this is the greatest time to be involved in politics, because this is a time when difficult decisions need to be made in order for our society to sustain and grow. I feel I have the qualities that will represent our community in a positive light. So when I hear people say all politicians are crooked, I remind myself and others that people serving in politics are not some foreign body, they are people like you and me - hopefully trying to create a better society for current and future generations...that's what I'll be trying to do!

A Representative should be…

- A person who does what they say they are going to do!

Proposed Constitutional Amendments
VOTER ID: I would vote against the need to verify ID due to cost and inconvenience to military and elderly.
MARRIAGE EQUITY: I am for equity. The decision to dis-allow this would move humanity backwards.

Economic Development
JOBS: Attract companies to move and build businesses in the North Metro. Provide incentives for companies who hire unemployed workers and veterans.
TCAAP: It is a good idea to build on the momentum and attention the TCAAP parcel has received. Nick remains passionate about this parcel and has discussed with local legislators the importance of remediating the land to finally do good by the many residents who's lives have been changed due to munitions production. We have a very unique opportunity to develop a new community...something that can become an example of new-age building and energy practices...something future generations will demand.

Transportation
AGING INFRASTRUCTURE: Fixing roads and building bridges must be a priority to maintain our quality of life.
MASS TRANSIT: Better promotion of public transit that works and continue building rail to support alternative means of transportation.

Education
CURRICULUM: A more progressive classroom experience is a must, engaging the student is vital to the quality of our workforce. How and what was taught 20 years ago is not sustainable today.
TEACHERS: I think many things could be solved if teachers were more empowered (less rules) and graded/compensated on effectiveness. Tenure should be considered.

Renewable Energy
Supports incentive for businesses to educate pubic on components/value. Consider more Smart Grid Technology the U of M is considering.

Environment
GREEN SPACE: Promote Parks and Programs that help support these spaces. Ex. more bird watching trips.
STORMWATER: Promote BMPs that capture, filter and improve our current water quality

Community Development
Promote better connectivity with neighborhoods (watch and night out) - better police engagement

Health and Human Services
Understand the benefits, and foresees tremendous challenges in the years ahead with with the escalating costs of healthcare. The trickle-down effect of not supporting/providing Health and Human Services can have a negative affect on many aspects of everyones life.

Taxes
I am for a fair system. Fair is fair.

I grew up just south of Arden Hills in Roseville and am the second of six children to Thomas and Karen Tamble. At an early age, I was fascinated with the garden and could be found eating young snap-peas off the vine in Spring or biting into the hard skin of Haralson apples in Fall. I also spent many a day practicing and playing baseball and basketball, while participating in 5 state tournaments and pursuing both sports in college. During my first college experience, I was exposed to student government and served as Student Senate President. It was here where I learned about committee involvement and communication with different people who wanted different things...a very important lesson learned.

Through my high school and college years I founded an outdoor service company and along with my brother Anthony, established Lawn and Landscape Gardens. My interest in school was shared with my entrepreneurial spirit, as I completed a BA in Education and have taken coursework towards an MBA in Project Management and Marketing. In 1997, I married Kimberly Astar with whom I share my life. In April of 2011, our first child, Elizabeth was born and we are so happy that she entered our lives. At the time of this writing, she is cutting teeth, so please pardon any grammatical errors! I currently serve on Arden Hills City Council and have done my best to promote positive working relationships and better communication through my efforts on the Communications and Website Re-Design Committees.

Kim and I enjoy hosting garden parties at our home and have also hosted Neighborhood Night Out for the past few years. Other interests of mine include: fishing on Lake Michigan, traveling to beaches and parks, gardening, diving, writing and the arts.
